GSR at the 2022 3D Metrology Conference
– Stara Diamond, November 18th, 2022
The 3D Metrology Conference (3DMC) is one of the foremost international gatherings of experts in the field of three-dimensional metrology. This year, Quidient traveled to Aachen, Germany to join other industry leaders in discussing the latest 3D metrology advancements. Participants included organizations such as Teledyne, Hexagon, Zeiss, the National Physics Laboratory (the national measurement standards laboratory of the United Kingdom), the National Metrology Institute of Germany (PTB), and the Visual Computation Institute at RWTH Aachen.
Live Demonstration on Exhibition Floor. From our featured position on the exhibition floor, we livestreamed a demonstration from Quidient’s Tech Center in Columbia, Maryland. We used Quidient Reality® to inspect an automotive hood for hail damage. To learn more about this application, visit our blog on sizing hail dents using machine learning.

GSR Special Interest Session. On the second day of the conference, Quidient presented in the GSR Special Interest Session: the world’s largest gathering on generalized scene reconstruction to date. Quidient representatives Scott Ackerson (CEO) and Alex Rablau (Engineering Manager of 3D Reconstruction) spoke on the current state and future potential of GSR. GSR could democratize reconstruction and bring the world from 3D to 5D metrology. It was a well attended 90 minute session that generated deep technical interest. The audience consisted of 3D experts who understand the need for GSR in solving metrology problems in the personal and professional lives of everyday people.
